With the Creative Minds Project, our goal is simply to capture the unique processes of artists through their notebooks. We believe that notebook is a special medium that documents the creative process while giving insight into its author’s mind.
We photograph and film the completed notebooks, sharing the magic online and envisioning a future physical exhibition to showcase these remarkable originals.

This project does not have a brief. There’s only one rule; to use the same notebook as everyone else. You can use your notebook alongside your ongoing projects to capture their evolution, for research, collect inspiration, and explore techniques, materials, and ideas, We are curious to see your thinking, your first drafts, your happy accidents, and your behind-the-scenes.
We invite you to dive into your imagination and use your notebook as an extension of your mind. We also encourage you to push the notebook's limits as a medium, both physically and conceptually; everything is fair game. If you need inspiration, feel free to check out our earlier chapters, but let them be a launchpad for your creativity, not a constraint.

We know that this project is a big undertaking, and understand that you might have other undertakings. So we don’t want to rush you by imposing a deadline. That said, it usually takes less than 3 months for artists to return their notebooks.
The artists we select are those who we believe are committed to the project, so we have the flexibility to work with your schedule. Once we send you your notebook, we follow up within a month to see where you’re at. We then work with you to coordinate your notebook and our publishing schedule, so that it works for everyone. Once we receive your filled-out notebook, we reach out with a final interview before your chapter is ready for publishing.
-
The format is a small, perfect-bound journal with 128 blank pages. We send this to you at the start of the project and expect it to be returned once you’re done. We don’t expect this to be filled out from cover to cover. However, we do need at least 30 spreads of original artwork.
Once we receive your notebook, we document it for publishing. We also conduct a detailed interview (usually via email) and release it on our website and Instagram.

No. We ask all the artists to use the same notebook, which we send out at the start of your project. This is simply for fair play, we want to stick to this format to highlight the differences in its content.
That said, if you have already purchased a notebook from us, you can submit those for consideration.

This project is published on our website and our Instagram.

Our open call is open to all artists, creatives, writers, designers, and makers of all backgrounds. You can simply submit examples of your work for consideration.
We select artists based primarily on diversity, both in terms of background and their body of work. Secondly, we look for examples of an established creative process. This to us is a sign of the depth of the work as well as a commitment to their practice.
We don’t have an age limit to take part or a certain level of achievement in their career. We believe that everyone’s point of view is worthy of being shared.
